Morning stockers tried to get new glasses this morning, had an appointment and everything, it didn’t go well. Apparently I’m not insured, even though I was 2 months ago when I had my eye exam, and have been paying premiums every month for the last two years. It’s a paperwork issue on the insurance companies end, I better stop. Enjoy your time off everyone and have fun and be safe, knucklehead weekend

I got close to buying a 5th gen T4R on Friday from a local-ish stealership. Every time that I see one on cars.c o m that's in the SW region, it's literally sold before I can ever get to a sales manager to talk to about doing an out of state purchase.

The local-ish place, I call and get a sales bafoon that would answer any questions about the T4R because it passed a State Inspection so it's "safe".

A few more emails via cars. c o m gets me another sales person that had no issues to go outside and snap some pics of the chassis to show any rust.

20 minutes later I get text saying " it's pretty good for an east coast vehicle"




Every weld seam was like this or a bit crustier, I had to pass. I can't stomach going $25K into the hole on a 5 year loan when a rig's frame is already this crusty. For contrast, my '15 Taco's frame isn't like this yet.

 

That looks really good from what I can see.
They get that rusty after the first year.

 

I really appreciate your opinion about it, I haven't been under many 5th gen T4R's from around here. Once the frame on my 3rd gen T4R started looking like that, it was too late so that's why I'm wanting to avoid anything from the mid-Atlantic or NE areas.

 

There are a few places to really look and tap.like front cab mount frame section.
But really, after a year it’s rusted. Welding area paint seems to pop off as the frame twists,
