OME suspension, TNF front bumper w/winch, 4xInnovations rear bumper, big brake conversion, rear disc brake conversion.
Nearing completion on the rehab/upgrade of my nearly-classic Tacoma. Swapped out the damaged rear bumper for a 4xInnovations to get the swing-out spare tire carrier. Chose the Baja Designs S2 Sport kit to go in the bumper's cutouts. To keep a clean OEM-style look on the dash, I got a Cali Raised tall switch. Most of the installation was very straightforward, but wiring the switch was not clear to me. Maybe I'm just dumb, but I couldn't find clear instructions on how to do this.

This thread was helpful, but a slightly different config and wire colors:

After spending a bunch of time with a multimeter I was able to get it figured out, and it looks and works great!

    Maybe this will help others:
I was able to push/pull the Baja Designs wire bundle for the switch through the driver's side grommet, and this bundle has a white connector in the middle of it. I cut off the wires on the switch side of the connection, retaining the connector for convenience. The leads are BLACK, BLUE, and WHITE.

The Cali Raised switch has four wires. I got a set of fuse taps from Amazon, and soldered the wires as shown:
    • "Top" GREEN wire from switch -to- WHITE Baja Designs wire (this goes to 30 on the relay, if you're smarter than me and understand this stuff)
    • Next RED wire from switch -to- BLUE Baja Designs wire (this goes to 85 on the relay)
    • 3rd wire, also RED from switch -to- my fuse tap
    • "Bottom" BLACK wire from switch -to- BLACK Baja Designs wire (this goes to 86 on the relay)

I put the fuse tap into the 10A TAIL fuse in the panel just below the switches. The tap has provisions to hold a fuse for the original circuit (the taillights) and the added circuit. I have no idea what my new switch needs, so I just put in another 10A, but I'm sure that's overkill. If somebody knows what it should be, I'd love to know.

The result is that when the parking/headlights lights are off and the switch is off, the switch is not illuminated.

When the parking/head lights are on and the switch is off, the text on the bottom half of the switch is illuminated:

When the switch is on (even if the ignition is off and/or parking lights are off), the whole switch is illuminated, and the S2's are BRIGHT!

An unanticipated benefit of the Baja Designs kit is that there is an unused set of wires from the relay rolled up under my hood waiting to plug-n-play more lights off this switch...

    Cheers!
