Looking at doing both valves next. I have 230k on my 2012 v6 and CEL came on with codes P0011 and P0016. Changed my oil, replaced the spark plugs, cleaned the throttle body. Each one of those helped the shuddering, but it's still there as well as the CEL. Hopefully the OCVs and filters fix it, otherwise it's going to be an expensive bill.

Just FYI, it’s really easy to overtighten the plugs that hold the filters in. A guy on here actually cracked his head putting them back. Just snug them up enough so they don’t leak and call it a day.

Read through my thread here. Same year truck, same codes. You can see in the pics on page 3 one of my oil control valves was sticking just slightly. Even though it tested good electrically. You are probably in the same boat.

FYI be prepared to fight with some corrosion getting the old OCV out of the aluminum head.

Appreciate the heads up! did you use TRQ or OEM replacements? its a $250 difference between the two and I dont know if I can justify based on the 2-3k a year I put on my truck these days. I got it to 200k miles in under 10 years, but work from home means its more of a daycare daily than anything else.

I used OEM. Your codes point to bank #1, so Id start with just that one.

Fortunately every time I've checked the filters (210k,390k), they were clean. I torqued the bolts down to spec, reused the original crush washer, lucky I didn't crack the head with the "good n tite" method

My original valves lasted about 210k, currently 180k on the replacements. Go OEM with this kind of stuff for sure

Phase 1, got the replacement OCV and when I went to carefully! Remove the valve with a screwdriver prying from the back, the housing broke off. Sadface. Going to thread a 1/2 inch course threaded bolt into the opening to see if I can get it to catch and spin the remaining housing off. Thoughts?

Ended up breaking another couple pieces of the outer housing off as i tried to pry it off with a screw driver and hammer. Used a 1/2" lag bolt and threaded it into the valve body, picked up a slide hammer and tried that as well, which broke another chunk off. Then was able to get it to slide inside the housing and used a 3/8" threaded screw to push it against the wall as i slowly pulled the rest of it out. HappyFace. Will get the new OCV in tomorrow and hopefully that fixes the shuddering.

Got the new OCV installed yesterday, plugged everything back in and it ran like new for about 2 miles, then check engine light started flashing, and got a boatload of new codes.

    P0300 – Random/multiple cylinder misfire detected
    P0301 – Cylinder 1 misfire detected
    P0303 – Cylinder 3 misfire detected
    P0305 – Cylinder 5 misfire detected
    P1604 - ECU#1
    P0011 - Camshaft Position, intake/left/front bank 1
    P0016 - Crankshaft position/camshaft position, bank 1 Sensor A

Also ended up breaking the safety clip on the plug for the OCV, FML.

will zip tie everything back together for now while i wait for the new connector to arrive and see if i can get the other codes resolved. might be an issue with the intake manifold as i cleaned that and the throttle body out when I did the work as preventative maintenance, but will do a once over and confirm all is good.

Sounds like you got an incorrect or faulty OCV or some debris got it in it and stuck it.

All the codes point to Bank 1 (passenger side), which one did you replace?

Damn dude, that is an excellent catch. After looking back at previous posts I think @malay4785 replaced the OCV on bank 2, not bank 1. The mounting bracket makes them a chiral part, they cannot be interchanged. Also two different part numbers

If I recall right, the P/N for bank 1 is 15330-0P010
    15340-0P010 is for bank 2

Replaced driver side. SadFace. I have the passenger side OCV as well, just in case, seems like it's the case now. I'll work on that one over the weekend.

Not every day you see "chiral" used on TW Forums. Well-played!
