The last wiring change to the DLC came between the 2019 and 2020 model years so I would not think there would be much of a problem in use beyond 2021 up to 2023. I am not endorsing the product as I know nothing about it. I picked up a copy of Techstream, that I will endorse.

Before buying make sure the unit can report Trans temps, they are proprietary Toyota Pids and change between vehicle and generations.

If you are back to purchasing a device to measure trans temps independently, you might want to consider one of the multifunction dash type gauges, such as the Ultra Gauge MX ($94) or the Scangauge family (up to $270).

Likely someone will be on here soon to recommend a phone-based solution too, I personally don't want anything more connected with my phone, so I have no experience or desire to use one of those.

You said you might have someone else available to help you with the fluid check, might ask them to follow the AT Fluid Check Mode procedure.

This was a few years ago, but I used the Torque app on my phone. The app is like $5, and I needed a OBD dongle for like $20 or $30. I had to program in a PID to get the two trans temps. I don't know if it comes with that capability presently.
