More than likely used the old battery as a core at costco.

But what do people do with spare car batteries? Use them as a door stop? Level off their bed frame? Hide them around corners when guests are over so they stub their toes and never come back?

It's just a rather large and unnecessary thing to be holding onto

Sale it on FB marketplace to recoup some of his loss. I’m sure you are correct though he probably used it at Costco to avoid a core charge.

Oh well it was just a thought.

Yeah I used it as a core deposit. Turns out I only had a FOUR year warranty on the Duracell battery and I was 3 weeks beyond it.

I'm kinda done with battery warranties. Too much of a hassle to actually use. When your battery dies, you're basically stranded or on life support with a set of jumper cables to get from point A to B. I work full time and have kids - can't just dedicate a whole weekend to screwing around at Batteries plus while they "test" my battery for 24 hours. Pain the butt. Just going to buy decent batteries and replace them preventatively at this point.

I took 3 of them ( that I change out every 2 years ) to Autozone and they gave me like a $7 or $10 gift card for each one.

    now you're gettin' it!
Often warranties on items are just feel-good marketing tactics, the retailer knowing damn well the majority will never be used and/or honored.
