Anyone daily a Marlin Crawler 1200lb?

Hey all,

My throwout bearing is on its way out. Currently deciding which clutch to go with (since I might as well do it while the trans is out) and I'm leaning towards the Marlin Crawler 1200lb kit. $360. Seems like a pretty good deal for me.

Does anyone daily this clutch? Just want to know how it is in traffic etc etc.

Just got an email saying that they came back in stock today, I assume thats why you posted. I think I'm gonna go with it regardless. I haven't heard of any issues with them and I plan on adding a front/rear bumper, bigger wheels, bigger tires, rtt, etc. They put everything together from the best manufacturers but they have a choice between aisin or seco.... I wonder which i should go with.

 

Save yourself some cash and just go aisin clutch.

don’t forget to change your rear main seal while your in there

 

I actually changed mine when I put a cheap ebay clutch in so all good there. On marlin crawlers website its only a $10 difference between aisin and seco.

 

I meant use all Aisin products and skip marlin crawler.

Still, for how much the gasket is if I have to drop the trans I will change that for peace of mind.

Gotcha I mean I just changed the rear main at 200k and I’m at 211k now It wouldn’t hurt. I guess I’ll just go with the Aisin considering what everyone else has to say and price wise.
How about their pilot bearings? This one didn’t last over 10k miles but it was an ebay part.

 

I have it, it's stiff the first few times you drive it then you get used to it. If I had to do it all over I would have just gotten OEM or aisin parts instead of MC. MC also burned me with a shit chinese pilot bearing that seized up in less than 40k miles. Luckily I was out my time, but it could have FUBARd my input shaft which would have been $700. Check the parts you get from them to ensure you are getting what you pay for.

 

What is the best pilot bearing and where can I buy it?

 

The kit I linked comes with an aisin pilot bearing.

Thanks for the info. The MC kit comes with a “Japanese Release Bearing.” No idea if that is good or bad haha.

 

I guess I’ll go with the Aisin clutch. Any benefits to getting the MC one though? I do have a very heavy truck with my camper shell, drawers, tools, etc. I was thinking the heavier duty 1200lb MC clutch would be better.

 

They have a nachi or aisin throw out bearing (release bearing). The bearing I'm talking about supports the snout of the trans inside the flywheel.

 

I have the MC 1200 clutch. It works well with the 2.0 SC pulley, tune, and big tires. I don't know if it's that worth it over the standard $200 Aisin that was linked.

OP, unless you have power adders there isn't any reason to go to a HD clutch.

I have a mc 1200 3.4l super charger, tuned, 35” tires..... daily driver 40k miles on it hopefully she holds up.

 

I know I'm a few years late. But i have the 1200lb marlin clutch kit. Its all oem asin except for the seco disk. As of now it has 217,000 miles on it and alot of rough miles all with 33" tires. And haven't had any issues at all. And the pedal feel is just like a normal clutch. I love it. But as of now it looks like marlin doesn't sale it anymore. So I don't know where anyone can get them now. So if I can't find one when time comes, I'll get an oem asin kit and look for the seco disk if I can find it. If not then the whole asin kit will go in.
