    Hello fellow Tacoma Friends ,
We have a 2023 TRD and over-all we cannot complain - - Except for ease of access and leg comfort with regard to the driver seat .
Previously we have asked if others have similar complaints about the driver seat and the replays were mixed , while summarizing , We should get use to it .
While honestly attempting to avoid a trip to our local Toyota Dealership , we are curious if any of you have compared the driver seat access and comfort with a 4 Runner TRD ?
Thank you in advance for any comparison-input you may have !
    Respectfully ,
    Tom

Thank you for your reply !
We have checked into the 'Seat Jackers' and are confident they might help with discomfort during 'long-drives' , But , our bigger issue has to do with exiting and entering our Tacoma driver seat .
I'm 71 and not as flexible as I use to be , but thankfully not over weight or physically unable to be seated normally .
Our question , posted today , was our lazy-effort hoping to avoid a trip into our local dealership .
(The dealerships are so overbearingly pushy !!)
    Thank you again !

The only way to really know is to go to the dealer and try. Unless a local rental place might have one to try.

If steps would be a suitable solution it would be a lot cheaper than a trade. Unless you just want the other features of a 4 runner and no longer need an open bed

Gotcha, yeah, getting old sucks. I’m with you. Maybe try utilizing some sort of grab handles and exterior side steps. The dealer I’m sure can resolve your problem for $50-$70k. AMP power steps are cheaper than a new vehicle. Good luck. upload_2025-8-31_15-10-33.jpg.

Comfort is a very relative term. Keeping in mind that the Tacoma is not a Lincoln Continental with seats made from rich Corinthian leather; the seats are more than fine to me and I never have any comfort issues even on long drives. On the other hand, many here compare the Taco seats to a slab of poorly angled plywood. Funny how that works!

I’m with you about age and unfortunately it’s not going to get better but worse with each passing year.

My thought is go test drive a 4 Runner and see for yourself to many variables to properly answer you question. JMHO

Boy it's HELL to get old isn't it... My beloved Uncle Leeroy used to always tell us kids that lol. As for the comfort in the Tacoma, I'd say try out the seatjackers, it's easy to install and the cost is very reasonable. They also make some very Nice cushioned seat supports and covers now-a-days. As for entering and exiting the Tacoma, a lot of very affordable and strong/reliable side-steps as well. Do NOT go to the local Dealership for this, look around you're local area, places that do vehicle accessories, woolwax/fluid film undercoating, even detailers will install whatever side steps for a couple hundred bucks. You might even be able to find a local source that has done some Tacoma's, or maybe even have some in-stock and allow you try them out. Worth a shot right?

FYI—I have a gen 5 4Runner. The seat and seating position are much different compared with the Tacoma.
