I've been having this high pitch squeak/chirp come from the driver front area for a few months. Hasn't seemed to get better...or worse. It happens most when driving crap city streets filled with cracks, pot holes and manhole covers.

I can only hear it with the driver's window down and when I'm driving between 10-35 mph. It might make it when going faster but it's drowned out by wind noise. There's no noise when flexing the suspension hard (like a big dip in the road), and I can't bounce on my sliders to recreate it either.

I've had a tech look it over and he found nothing mechanicaly wrong with the suspension components. My only thought is front body mounts. Attached is a photo (blurry) and a video of the sound. Any thoughts?

The bolt head on the right side in the video is the front body mount bolt head.

    -Update-

Noise only seems to happen when the left front goes over a bump/crack/cover. No noise from the rear tires or right front.

I replaced the driver side front body mount bolt/bushing and the noise is still there. I also replaced the idler pulley #2 on the driver side (made no difference).

Here is a second video of the sound filmed from my switch tray behind the battery.

    Cab mounts? Sway bar bushings?

Unsure how to test the cab mounts other than rocking the truck. The truck is dead silent when I rock it back and forth. I have yet to be able to recreate the noise without driving it over bumps.

I shook the sway bar and sprayed grease into the bushings, didn't change anything.

Has it been wheeled? My radiator support has cracked in a couple places, and can cause hidden squeaks. You have a 3rd gen though, so it could be different

    Could be anything...
Start pounding on various items under the truck with a rubber mallet...
Could be a loose metal skid plate too?

    If its a bodymount....
Get a bunch of friends together...
you in the truck listening for the noise while they rock the living hell out of the truck, see if you can replicate the noise.

Mechanics stethoscope does wonders if you can replicate it standing still / rocking it.

It's been wheeled but nothing too ridiculous. I can look around for sheet metal/weld cracks.

I've taken the skid plate off and test drove it, sound still there. I will try the rubber mallet banging approach.

I'd look into the stethoscope but I currently can't/don't know how to recreate the noise without driving it. Make me think it has something to do with the hub maybe.

the last video, showed it being reproduced during bumpy jarring motions, going over bumps....
like I said, car off in a quiet area see iff you can get a few guys to bounce on the front bumper, up & down, like your hitting a bump...

    -Update-

Got the truck on jack stands and inspected the wheel bearing and LBJ for play, no issues. Removed the tire and inspected all suspension components, no play, sounds, or anything suspicious. Put the tire back on and decide to give it a spin. That's when I heard a little something rotational. Removed the dust cover and found the spindle retainer to be very loose and flopping around.

I pinched the tabs closer to the axle and adjusted the cotter pin to "huh" the retainer. This dramatically decreased the noise from the spindle retainer.

Put everything back together and took the truck for a short drive and didn't hear much. Will report back tomorrow after going into work and back.
