Howard Stern Fans?

Exactly, nor are the honchos at Sirius. People bought it for Stern perhaps but they're keeping it for other reasons as well..I've yet to talk to a person who subbed for Howard that is dropping it regardless of whether or not they still tune in to him

 

I may jump over to youtube premium after he is up. But yeah I've been on SXM since Jan 2006.

 

My friend (who loved Stern for many years and got tired of him a few years ago) is about 20 yrs in as well

 

He's suffering the fate of a lot of guys of his political ideology, people are tuning out and saying no.

Alienating half your potential customer or listener base is a recipe for disaster.

I never really watched/listened to him, so can't comment. I will say one of my favorite Youtube channels has been a thing for 20 yrs and never has that subject come up, which is one of the reasons I continue to tune in to that one.

That's just it, we all should approach life with a little respect.

I guess another thought it is, Stern took a turn at some point where he realized his past behavior was going to be a ripe target for Cancel Culture. So my suspicion is his show changed a lot and the original fan was no longer interested. If you look at some of the things he's done on that show - there's just no way he gets away with it in 2025. It's up to you to decide if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

It's like the rockstars from the 80s who took political stances now that contradict their behavior from the 80s.

People are rolling their eyes.

My social feeds have so many stories on Howard’s demise and firing plus it’s all a plan for his return.
I’ve never see so much chatter on his contract future.
SEPTEMBER 2nd….. I do t expect many answers. He will play it out but I’ll be listening

 

Meh. If you're holding onto Howard's political stance at this point, you're just butt hurt about what he has said. He has made it a point to not get political this whole year and has stuck to it. You could also argue the same point for any media at this point when it comes to picking a side. CNN vs Fox and etc.... it's a moot point.

With that said, my opinion on SiriusXM and Howard parting ways, and this is not because of Howard's popularity at this point, it is fully the medium he is currently on. He is probably the sole reason SiriusXM is still currently alive. He is the only reason, I still subscribe but satellite radio is dying and they know it. Look how easy it is now to keep a monthly/ yearly payment, same as a new customer. You don't even have to speak to a human. You talk to AI chat that just agrees to keep your payment to what it is vs the letter you get in the mail saying is going to be doubled or whatever it says. I can't remember because I've always contacted them every year when my renewal was coming to keep the same price. Satellite can't compete with other options now. They don't offer what Amazon music, Apple or Spotify offer. You can pretty much build your own channel, easily and for a lower price. It's all on demand vs a Playlist the SiriusXM picks and plays. They were smart to pic up some podcasts but you can literally get them for free and easily other places. Unless they switched up their entire format offering what other music services offer, then they're done for soon. Howard might not be enough to keep them going and I think he sees it. I'll be curious to see what he says when he comes back in September but would not be surprised if this is his last contract. Or if he maybe does one more year, tops just to wrap things up and give his crew an opportunity to move on successfully. We shall see. In the meantime....

 

Paradoxically that he saved satellite radio and Sirius in particular, to be sure. I've never paid for the service, nor the ones you mentioned that are more popular nowadays. It's just not my thing.

I forget who said this (could have been an article or a friend chatting), but if in fact the sheets get split here I bet anything that other companies will back up the Brinks truck to try and get him. Can't really disagree with that idea in theory, though IDK what his current draw numbers are. Perhaps Sirius will up the ante, make it so he can't say no..

Or maybe he's just done. At this point in his life I don't think he's worried about his next meal for some time, and what good is all that money if you can't relax and enjoy it at some point..

 

Truth. Although it doesn't seem like he knows how to relax...

Who knows. People are making bank on Podcasts, even though he hates them. I just don't see SiriusXM having the money even if they wanted to keep him.

On another note, I have Amazon music and love it. For less money than SiriusXM, Me, my wife and kids all have it and can listen to pretty much everything we could want. I have some music on my phone for times that I have no signal if I want, but that's few and far between.

 

My uncle was that way, only retired when the world shut down (he was a printer)..work was his purpose.

 

Yeah, a lot of people live like that. Sad to me because I always want people to retire and be able to enjoy life. Although we know Howard doesn't know how to enjoy life anyway...

 

I suppose living and enjoying life is all relative. He worked and took care of his mother for many years, as well as both his brothers when they got on in years. Never married, no kids, had very few friends..but lived in the same house 70 of his 72 yrs. Basically a loner outside of family.

Then again, I have some hobbies that people would think I'm crazy for engaging in much less the money aspect of..
