    So to be on topic.
I added a good liner from a junkyard 4Runner Limited to my 2017 Tacoma.
Shape lines up for the most part, and 4 of the mounting are usable. Made new holes for the ones that do not line up.

If a hood insulator stops me from peeping some balls, I guess it can't be all bad.

I have to ask; what benefit did you get from doing this little project?

A couple of reasons, might be a wall of text...

One, it was cheap, just $10 and 10 minutes install time.

Our old Landcruiser, Cressida and Mark2 all had one. Mother's Rav4 and 2024 Tacoma, My Brother's WRX STI also have one. The Tacoma is the only vehicle in our family without one.

The liner has a couple of purposes, the reason why it is used on many vehicles.

Sound insulation, which helps with the infamous "taco tic".

The other is heat insulation, lowers the heat that is absorbed into the hood = paint last longer. Also not when it is on, but when it is off and radiates with no wind or fan to move the air.

Then cause I also have the skewp, water no longer splashes on the engine.

I actually caught mice by hand coming out of the hood material on the Mrs's suby while popping the hood to do oil changes. Could see they were chewing and living in there, acorns rolling around, eventually damaged enough that I ripped it out. No loss to me.
