I just bought my second Tacoma. My first was a 2018 SR5 back in 2020. My second is a 2021 SR

I am retired military and a retired pipeline technician. Happily married, love to crappie fish, own golf clubs, and enjoy model railroading (don't have a layout at this time).

I want to add mud flaps to my 2021 SR. I ordered some and they were delivered today. They are "stiff" vinyl/plastic. I expected them to be flexible.

Maybe I need an education here on what I should buy/install. Should the mud flaps be flexible rubber?

Nearly all mudflaps are firm and do not flap anymore. Thick rubber ones are reserved for medium duty and higher now.

I say just install the ones you got, they will hold up forever.

The old 2005-2015 models had really long plastic flaps that would break off going over speed bumps, the 2021 model has shorter ones that do the job just fine.

Most factory Toyota mud flaps are that stiff plastic, not soft rubber. They're meant to hold shape and not fold back at highway speeds. Flexible rubber is more of an aftermarket heavy-duty look, usually longer and more for guys hauling or off-roading in serious mud
