I was going to do mine years ago so I could keep wheeling the truck reliably, but I wound up getting injured and I just haven't been the same since, so now the truck is just a pavement pounder which I use to transport large things and the (now) family. The core support bulkhead remains in the same condition it was in, and hasn't gotten any worse, so I've sort of just left it like it was. The truck has slowly been deteriorating, but I'm going to give it a big refresh here shortly because it definitely could use it.

ive seen this on a few trucks now. helped a friend weld up his core support after some cracks that seemed to start around the time of the poly swap. after that, i started peeking under all of my other buddie's tacomas. two more with poly had core support cracks, none with good condition OEM had any. all of the trucks ive seen that had core support cracks with OEM mounts had absolutely toasted rubbers.

These frames are very flexible. they twist a TON when you off road. it's not necessarily a bad thing, but unless your truck is caged, engine cage included, the flexibility of the rubber mounts is highly beneficial.

Yep. I know some military versions are running rubber up front and poly for the cab. ...and they run full armor.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but as it's regarding radiators and bushings, do any of you know if the "radiator mount bushings" are replaceable? (See photo)Screenshot_20250902_215238_DuckDuckGo~2.jpg

Where do I find replacements? I've looked and don't see any. But then I don't know what to call them.
And how hard is it to replace? Do I have to remove the entire radiator?

So is the newer general consensus that its a better idea to replace with OEM rubber rather than the energy polys? I'm relatively stock and don't wheel but my OEMs are worn and starting to make noise at 205k so looking to replace them, but not looking to need to weld cracks or any reinforcements.

Like anything, i'm sure there are conflicting views, but after witnessing everything I described above, OEM rubber would seem to be the way.

For perspective, I have a roll cage on/in my truck that makes the frame way stiffer than a stock frame, and I'll still replace mine with rubber when the time comes.

Im pretty sure the front radiator supports come worn out. But the cab mounts last longer. If you just replace the radiator support with poly, then IMO adding additional stiffness in the front that can lead to cracks. But I also had cracks due to wheeling, before I changed my OEM out. Take that as you may.

I still plan on replacing all of the cab mount bushings with poly.

Gotcha thanks guys. Pricing out the OEM rubber with all new hardware comes out to a bit over 100 bucks or I could get Dorman 924267 rubbers with hardware for 50 bucks, so I might just go that route and see how long they last. I didn't have any complaints until the last few months so my OEMs seemed to hold up fine for me with no real wheeling or added front weight

Looks like the set people are using is like 110 for all the ES poly cab mounts. Like 30 for just the front cab ones referred to as the "rad support" in this thread. My previous post was just about the front/rad support ones-I don't plan on replacing the rest of the cab/body mount ones.
