    Stock for now
Washed my 21 Tacoma , backed into its spot, next day right rear e brake stuck! Tried rocking in low range, ( mines a manual) no help, then read on here about pulling e brake lever a few times while I'm under truck wiggling the lines, that worked and thanks to the people who wrote this.
BUT, I didn't wash under truck only sprayed wheels to clean, so how in the hell does this happen, and yes I will now drive before parking, and YES, I'm now afraid to use ebrake.

    Whole lotta' momentum
Happened to me too, only sprayed the wheels. I just don't use the parking brake for a couple hours after I wash, no big deal. Happens to every drum brake vehicle I've owned.

Try stomping on the brake pedal fairly hard 2 - 3 times and the rear drums should break free.

I have never had my rear drums get stuck after driving in heavy rain, but I do block the tires with the E-brake off when washing.

You need new rear shoes…when they get some wear in them, the dumbass reaction bar parking brake system that Toyota started using in ‘05 likes to jamb up.

Use OEM shoes only, and use a high moly grease on all linkage contact points. That’ll get you another couple year LS before you have to do it again.

be careful giving it the beans in 4 low…I just bent the shit outta my brake shoes and the rivets holding the lower anchor block onto the backing plate using force to try and break them free…

replace the shoes before they’re 1/2 way worn and you shouldn’t have this issue.

Same thing happened to me a few years back in the late summer, around 50k miles. Set the Parkin brake, I hand washed the truck, sprayed water around the wheels, and when I went to drive away the rear brakes were “locked up”. Wet drums does something very weird to the parking brake system.

Can confirm this works. Backed into the lake and submerged brakes. Froze up several hours later. Did the above and unstuck after 2nd hard stomp on pedal.

Exact same thing happened to me in the late summer with above freezing temperatures. I try to always take the truck for a quick spin after washing it to heat up the brakes so they dry out. I forgot that time and parked it right away and applied the parking brake.

Especially prone in the winter. One recent winter it happened just after getting out of the pay and spray to get salt off. About a minute or two I came to my first stop light and lightly applied the brakes. I couldn’t believe the rears started to freeze up only after just shortly stopping for the light. It was later at night with a -6 or -7 Celsius temp or about 20 degrees.

It’s probably way more fun in winter when it’s 10 deg F and blowing snow

Happen to me 4 times. Worst was when I went ice fishing. She locked up didn't know what to do. Put in 4lo the back end locked up for good mile before she broke loose. Drifting all over the place. Scary..... couple other times from loading boat. I'll try pressing it hard next time if it happens again.

Couple of hard stomps should do it.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
As said above… stomp the brake pedal firmly a few times. Will hear them pop free. Happens to me all the time.
