My 2010 4.0L tacoma is heating up to 225-230 degrees in 85 to 95 degree temps when sitting in traffic more than 10 minutes, remedy is putting it neutral and increasing the rpm to 12-15K. then the temps drop down to 196-200 any suggestions to improve cooling?
    Appreciate the suggestions!

I installed last year "24, CFS's double row aluminum radiator and replaced the thermostat to original.
It has a 2 year old custom exhaust system, Magnaflow 1.5" ceramic shorty manifold headers with cats both sides. flowmasters 2.5" American thunder cat back stainless steel dual exhaust with a super 50 muffler.
Magnuson Supercharger factory installed by Toyota in 2012 and still runs great with over 300 thousand miles!

An aux fan would be the next step if everything is working as designed.

The AC load is hard on engines when in traffic, but thats not THAT hot, and the super charger doesnt produce more heat when bobbing around in traffic.

I'd be worried about a possible headgasket failing, again provided theres good flow and the mechanical fan clutch is working.

I'm assuming you checked the coolant in the radiator (not just the bottle)?

    Is your fan clutch working?

I have checked and double checked all of the above its tight in there with tranny cooler, oil cooler, and the new radiator, shroud is tight and a pain to take off my mechanic has checked for head gasket leaks and there are none, coolant check IN radiator I have not done never thought of that why would the radiator coolant vary from the overflow bottle? Maybe change to an electric fan? Thanks for your replies!!

Never rely on the bottle for checking coolant, leaks, a bad radiator cap, and some other issues can cause the radiator to be low and the bottle to not be. The level in the radiator is what matters as far as cooling the engine, the bottles purpose is to catch excess coolant as it heats up and expands and allow it to be drawn back in as it cools and contracts.

Always check coolant level in the radiator (never when the engine is hot of course).

Did the higher temp start happening after you installed the aftermarket radiator?

This sounds like classic fan clutch issues

I took Dm93 advice and checked the radiators coolant level and yes it was low by about 1/2 quart it did improve now temps around 190 when at stop lights and stop and go traffic.
I never checked the coolant level after getting the new radiator but then it ran cool up to summer temps hit. Dang guess I better check for a leaky head gasket by getting a cylinder compression test now since it a telltale sign!!
If that’s it then Im looking at thousand’s!!
