Unfortunately I’m a perfectionist to a fault, and I’ve done dozens of coilover installs at this point.

I also happened to be working on a truck that had previous issues from a wreck and a 3” spacer lift, with a person who had never dismantled his front end before.

There’s nothing you can see. The sensor wire stretches inside the insulation. The wheel speed sensor (aka. the ABS sensor) measures electrical resistance and if the wire gets stretched it disrupts the reading.

@Jwexler1227 A bidirectional reader not only reads data from the OBD-II port but is able to “speak” to the ECU as well.

The reason I asked who installed the lift is if the tech accidentally let your spindle hang on the sensor harness, then realized their mistake and replaced the wire but did not have a bi-directional reader to clear the error, the ABS light would have turned off but the PCS might (?) still need to be reset. This is only a hypothetical speculation, and I don’t think it is very likely.

Another common occurrence when 3rd gens are lifted (or even when they simply get an alignment) is the zero point calibration needs to be reset. This can also be done with a bidirectional reader. If the zero point needs to be reset, I believe it may cause a malfunction with the PCS (?). But typically if it’s the zero point, your traction control and/or VSC will throw errors as well.

It’s at least worth ruling those things out before permanently disabling your PCS, by finding someone with a bidirectional reader to read and clear the code — your local autoparts store has OBD-II readers they will let you use for free, and sometimes their readers can perform basic bidirectional functions. Otherwise, just ask around with any friends who are gearheads. It’s likely someone has a reader that will work. Take photos of what it the errors are before you reset them, just in case it gives you any more detailed data.

In the end it will probably be the angle of your radar like everyone has said, and since the PCS also uses the eye behind the windshield, it is probably worth learning how to adjust your coilovers to lower your front end one ring. You can almost surely find a Youtube tutorial explaining how to do this. If you don’t own a good half inch torque wrench you will want to buy or borrow one from an autoparts store, along with spring compressors. You will also want jack stands.

There is a way to do it without using a spring compressor, but I don’t recommend it unless you find a really good tutorial that includes marking your alignment cams beforehand, then loosening your cam bolts to keep from stressing your LCA bushings. If this method is used, it’s essential that your truck is supported by jack stands and your LCA is supported by a floor jack that is positioned inline with your CV axle for safety.
