Birthday cook surprise storm

It’s going to be a fun one!

 

Every time I make burnt ends, I make tofu burnt ends for my wife. They turn out really good but I'm also a fan of tofu in general.

 

Brisket and beef ribs are in the cooler. Pork is on. Turkey and poppers are up next (when the ribs get wrapped).

It’s been a busy one!

I’m sorry I didn’t get pics of everything. I was a busy little bee.

Brisket (flat/point, separated), pork belly, belly bites, turkey, pork ribs, mac n cheese, beans, cucumber salad, elote, key lime pie and spice (cake) cupcakes.

I don't like ToFu at all. It's a texture thing for me, I've tried different ones but never found any I'm OK with.

 

Have you tried red lentil, or Burmese (chickpea)?

Red lentil is stupid easy to make, I make it time to time. Neither of those are that spongy texture of soy tofu. I like tofu, but I still like both of those too, change things up.

 

No i haven't, I like Chickpeas, red lentils not so much. If the texture more firm and not that gross sponge I might be OK.

Fire ban lifted! Couple of pork butts, 1 black cherry/chipotle and 1 garlic, lemon, onion. Tomorrow a couple dead chickens, 1 black cherry/chipolte, and 1 green chili, onion, garlic.

 

Shenanigans. Gotta do it Maine lobster style, chuck 'em in alive, see what happens!

Same. I got a new Chargrill AKORN Kamodo Smoker (all steel not ceramic) and after a few weekends of dialing it in, I did the Pastor recipe above. It was amazing. Looked better than her pics because my ham was about 2 or 3 pounds bigger than hers was and I layered some pineapple through out for the smoke. But yeah - it was labor day weekend and we had a bunch of people at the house for an engagement party and despite having probably 10 cameras around, I forgot to take pictures.
