I did nearly all the work on mine inside the shop and then did the install all at once. Made things much easier for sure.

All I had to do was connect the positive and ground to the battery, then it was ready to connect accessories and switches.

What's your setup going to look like?

    Sheeeeee-oooooo!
    Nothing that fancy for sure.

I'm dropping in an AuxBeam AS-60.
I just need to run a fuse tap to the external panel and I'm done.
First order of business will be running the radio off of it. Next the Air Pump.
I have four more spots for lights.

Set me straight on this. Do I need to, or should I say, is it advisable to, add a fuse block?

Right now I'm only running fogs(I added them due to my ride being a Trail Edition and not having them) and soon to come ditch lights. They both have wiring harnesses with relays and in-line fuses (Morimoto harnesses) with Air On Board factory style switches. Add a fuse for the trigger to the cabin fuse block. I may add a light bar in the future, and who knows what else.

I would still need an add-a-fuse for the switch trigger if I added a fuse block correct?

With the fuse block, I'm adding extra protection, a central location for line power, future additions of accessories, and an overall esthetic look, correct?

    Appreciate your input.

    Short answer: No.

Medium answer: If those are the only accessories you plan to add, those kits come with everything you need and you will be just fine.

Long answer: What many Tacoma owners experience is one wiring project after another and after a while there is a confusing number of wires running to the battery and everything would look more professionally installed and easier to service if a fuse/relay block had been done in the first place.

    Really long answer:
That's what happened to me on my 2006 Tacoma so with my 2022 Tacoma, I had the wisdom of hindsight and was able to plan more carefully. You might want to check out this post, which summarizes my whole setup:
    https://forum.expeditionportal.com/...a-access-cab-build.233840/page-3#post-3076148

    Recap:
Plan ahead. Use a fuse/relay system if you have more than a few accessories. It will be worth the extra effort.

    Also:
Don't run ground wires back to your battery unless it is the closest ground point. There are plenty of factory ground points located throughout your Tacoma.

Main breaker- the panel itself needs it.
Separate fuses & relays- works fine up to a point.
Separate fuse panel and relays- tried & true.
Separate fuse panel and solid state relay panel- more compact and comes with labeling
Combined fuse/relay panel- how compact depends on the model and number of circuits but hard to beat.

Most panels have a limit of ~30A per circuit so if you need more you’ll need a dedicated fuse holder and high current relay.

I have a Bussman RTMR with an additional pair of 40A fused circuits under the hood. One of the 40A circuits feeds an 8-way fuse panel under the center console cup holders. This limits the wires penetrating the firewall so I have separate panels for inside and outside accessories. They do add up.
One thing I’d do differently is only use #10 wire and high current terminals/connectors where needed, the wire is stiff and both it and the connectors needed take up too much space where a more appropriate size would be easier to work with and around. I’d still use it, just not everywhere. Wire charts can take the guesswork out of choosing which to use.

Need is based on if you are going to run accessories or not. Anything more than your cigarette lighter and yes I'd put one on.
I put an Auxbeam 6 button switch panel in and it was such an easy add on that I'm a little pissed Toyota doesn't offer it from the factory.

I'll bet you that 2/3 of the Tacomas that get bought end up with "stuff" on them. Sure would be nice to have an OEM switch panel to control the stuff.
