Grilled some deer burgers last night :hungry:. I have historically dripped a little Dale's into my patty mix, but didn't have any on hand. So if anyone is looking for a good Dale's alternative, Pilleteri's original marinade is a very respectable 2nd in my opinion! A nice dousing of it into the mixture, along with some diced up fresh jalapenos and pepperjack cheese, I don't think it can be beat

Leftover top sirloin from camping and tots.

If I had thought farther ahead, there would be a couple fried eggs with it. next time

So this will be a silly one - do y'all just leave your propane tanks attached to your grills all year long?

I only ever used charcoal before so this gas grill my wife bought me will be the first that uses a standard tank.

Only other gas grills I used were the big and small camping type (used normal sized tanks, but camping was no more than 1 week long). I ask because this summer we hit multiple days of triple digit heat.

I usually shut the valve on top of the tank but leave it connected to the hose. Mostly to make sure the gas doesn’t leak out… No problems for me in the heat.

    Shoot, what part of Norcal?

I lived a little more up north than here and "hot days" were in the 80s.

My gas is plumbed through the house and a spigot sticking out the backside on my patio. All I did was run a dedicated flex line to the grill and it stays attatched. There is a shutoff valve on the spigot I close during the cold months but never disconnect it unless I got work to do on that area. I’ll try to remember to get pics when I get home

I leave one hooked up year around and also shut the bottle valve off after every use since I don't trust the grill valve. My rear deck hits the 100's a week or two in the summer.
No problems with the heat, they are designed for it. Full is usually only 80% of the bottle to allow for expansion.
Plus leaving it hooked up keeps the grill portion of the hose out of the elements.

Mine are hooked up year round. Same as others I turn off at the bottle after each use. North central AZ we get some 100 degree summer weather and 20 degree winter weather. Big daily temp swings.

If you take some tinfoil and wrap it around a large cup or glass to make a small bowl, you can cook eggs on the grill too

I do the same. Leave it hooked up but turn off the propane at the source. I also use the cover that the grill came with, so it helps shelter the tank from the elements a little more.

Generic guidance is keep tanks upright, outdoors, out of the Sun, and at temps between -40° and 120°.

If they are over filled they kind of grumble when they're flowing. I had one go above because of heat, was full, then sat in sun + 85ish degrees direct sunlight, I have one of these bad boys on there and it was over the green by a shot. Tank was humming when the grill was on :D

    https://www.amazon.com/Indicator-De...ne+tank+level+indicator&qid=1757424085&sr=8-3

I leave the tank connected, and turn the tank off at the tank when I'm done. Let the lines empty while still lit. I trust my valves and if I was using it later the same day/maybe the next day, I'd leave it open, but typically I kill it at the tank. BUT they stay connected.

Ooooo I'm jealous. We have piped NG in the house, have wanted to look at this before.

Same here as well. The only time I don't turn it off at the tank is if I heat the grill up to clean an hour or so before actually cooking, and turn it back off until then. If its going to be more than a couple hours, I'm usually turning the tank off.
