    Our illustrious state government installed absolutely awful leadership in our DNR over the last several years, including some people who are openly anti-hunting. Anyway, they now fly drones and small aircraft over private property and come steal your guns if they catch you baiting for deer. Is that messed up or what? My buddy's 72 year old dad has an apple orchard so he made a pile of apples on the edge of the woods... DNR came and took his deer and his rifle.

    I’m really surprised that our deer herd is as good as it is with the lack of sensible management. Shit could go down hill soon, with CWD in Illinois now the IDNR is supposed to start having public meetings to let us know what their game plans are. God help us!!

    Sounds like we're in the same boat. I think maybe the deer have just adapted to the landscape so well over the last 50 years that the populations have exploded regardless of management. We have a heard of deer at my work that live on probably a 3 acre patch of woods and field between an endless stretch of concrete. Deer, turkey, and Canada geese...
