My truck will crank when its cold and if i start again immediately but if it sits for 10 to 20 minutes it struggles to crank like not getting gas but when it finally does fumes comes all in the cab. Soon it just going to quit cranking. I have replaced many things nothing is helping.

How many miles on the truck and what have you replaced so far? The parts cannon can get expensive.

    CE light any codes?

Not adding any relevance to this thread, but when my truck sits on a hot day it takes a bit to start, it won't the first time, but if I wait about 10 seconds it starts right up. For me that's just normal Tacomaology. Definitely isn't in this case tho.

Yeah, I’m concerned if she has a misfire when it starts up hot.

Yup, her next steps should be grabbing the old innova and seeing if it shows a misfire. Oreileys still does free diagnostics I'm pretty sure, I think it's called VeriScan.

It says sensor on transfer case i know about that. Its the hi lo when i had a used on put in guy didn't connect but it was doing that before. Ive had a 7000 mile motor just put in that didn't change it. Ive changed starter, fuel filter. Spark plugs. Its been a few years but just getting really bad. No Machanic so far can't figure this out.

    Leaky fuel injectors?

The leaking injectors creat a fuel rich environment, not enough oxygen to ignite the mixture. In short, the combustion chamber is flooded.

This would explain the fuel smell when it starts up.

Ive also noticed when driving its hesitated a few times. That has just started because its getting worse. I bought a cheap sensor for the other sensor on transfer case the one that has the wheel but haven't changed it. I pulled old one out it looks ok. I was little leary about the cheap one but maybe i should try anyway.

How old is your exhaust? A plugged catalytic converter can mimic these symptoms and not show codes unless your O2 sensor goes kaput.

The Machanic that put the motor in said he cleaned the fuel injectors very well they looked good but i do wonder myself if that is the problem. Same fuel injectors went in that was in the bad motor.

Good possibility that’s where I was going. If they are the original Aisin (brown) injectors they start to fail at 200K miles and up.

All these suggestions sounds good. Maybe its the sensor at the catalytic converter. That will be the cheapest start. It came up sensor we thought it was showing sensor because of the disconnect at transfer case. But it very well could be that. If not the fuel injectors is the next which will mean not having my truck for a week. That is the worst part. But thank all you guys for answering. Ive tried writing on here months ago and it would not let me post.

One other thing verify fuel pump has adequate pressure.
