    Hi all,

I have a 2000 Tacoma. A few days ago, the passenger door randomly locked when closed. one day it was working, the next day it didn't lol.

Yesterday and today, I was working on replacing the interior as well as exterior door handles of both passenger and driver sides. But, even with replacing them and trying to pull one some of the metal bars connected to the handles, I still have no luck.

Has anyone experienced this and found a fix? Or, any ideas in general? TIA!

Is this only from the inside, or the outside as well? If just from inside, then your child safety lock is on. It's a small lever/tab in the edge of the door.

Okay. So, how would I go about replacing/fixing this with the door closed?

Never had this happen to me, but my guess is you take off the door panel inside and get at the latch mechanism that way to get the door open.

If that doesn't work, do you have a good Sawzall and a bunch of blades?

Actually this happens all the time.......have to get door panel off

Unfortunately, that almost always means having to pull the seat first...

I'm sure you didnt want to hear that........I didnt want to say it....
