hey guys. Would appreciate your advice on my situation. I am leaning towards selling my truck and I am having trouble figuring out how much I can even list it for

Its a 2023 TRD off road tacoma with 28k miles

I have some work done to it like suspension mods, regeared, bumper, winch, roof rack, Baja designs lighting, switch panel I have brand new set of 5 beadlock wheels and tires

I just need help pricing it out... Would I calculate used price of all mods and add it to the value of the truck if it was stock? how do you guys do it?

You're not going to get back any of the money spent on mods unless you hold off for a private sale to just the right person. Your truck is worth about what the Blue Book says, or whatever you can get someone to pay for it.

I say this as someone with $25k+ in mods. That money is gone.

very unfortunate. I spent a lot on mods lol. Maybe I should take some stuff off and sell them separately.

That's probably the best way to handle it if you have the ability and time.

If you do list it with mods priced in I'd say add 25-50% of the cost of parts only (no labor) and see if you get any bites. Maybe someone out there is looking for exactly what you've got and you get lucky.

I often see bone stock, well maintained trucks selling for as much or more than the modded ones... Which, does really suck for someone looking to sell the latter. If it was me I'd remove anything that I know I could easily sell and wouldn't need to spend money to replace.

This is especially true on a trade in, but even with private party you probably aren't going to recoup much. Like, if the truck is worth $38k stock, how much more is someone realistically going to pay?

Edit: this could be a decent comp

That is often a good option.

In private party, you might get 25-50% of the retail of your mods (not including any install labor)

The big exception might be a buyer who wants *exactly* what you have. Even then, 75% of retail would be a big ask.

Well then I sincerely hope you can find someone that wants what you've already done, for that amount of money. It's just a lot harder sell is all we're saying. Obviously "worth it" in the sense of how much a stock truck plus the upgrades would cost. In the end, value only equals what someone is willing to pay.

If you have proof, high book is what its worth IMO. Most people looking for a 23 are going to want stock.

I was a Jeep owner not long ago... It was demonstrated to many people looking to sell that mods and add-ons add $0 to value (what people are willing to pay). Depending on what was done, some may feel that they would have to undo some of your hard work that you paid dearly for. To many, add-ons are a negative and mean that they might have to spend more of their own money to make it exactly the way they want instead of they way you wanted...

It is a tough pill to swallow, but when there are many stock units to choose from it can sometime be tough to sell if the truck is too tricked out. High book if in great condition and not all hacked up. But I wouldn't expect to get any of the money spend on add-ons or think it should fetch high book + all your investments... You could end up sitting on it with no sale for a long time until that one person comes along that wants everything you added is willing to pay your price for all the extras.

Otherwise there may be a few things a buyer might throw out or redo and they won't want to necessarily pay extra for all that
    I could be wrong...

That's the problem here. I can't even undo some of the mods like the bumper, the cut fenders to fit the larger tires and the cab mount relocation to fit the larger tires properly

but it is off road ready for that specific someone who doesn't want to spend 30k in mods.

You are looking for a unicorn to find someone that will pay extra for a modded truck. Two very big reasons. 1. The vast majority of people don't want a modded truck. 2. The bigger reason is financing. You are not going to find a bank in the world that will go more than the stock value. Your truck probably has a retail value of around $40k. No bank is going to finance $50k on it. The only way you can sell it for more is either the person has cash or a substantial amount of cash to lower the loan amount. That is a true unicorn.

Do yourself a favor, return it to stock, sell your parts for what you can get and call it a day.

As already commented modded trucks don’t sell as well as stock. With that said IMO take the KBB and subtract 10%.

ya but It will cost a lot to return this truck back to stock. Plus, most of it won't go back to stock because fenders are cut, bumper is cut and installed steel bumper. relocation kit.
I don't have the stock wheels and stuff. just the stock suspension

Probably will just take the L

Yep, cutting up your truck just isn't good for resale. But, hopefully the build was fun and the truck was fun... I'm the end, that is more important than money.

Since you are just leaning toward selling it why not just keep it?
