    I use the same principles I used in nuclear power plants to minimize and even eliminate risks- shut the power off before working on it lol.
    Disconnect the battery or pull the circuit fuses before touching anything. Results - dome lights that actually work instead of a dim glow. In this case I used two small LED flat panel arrays to replace the single dome light bulb while still using the existing cover.
