I always think that too when the truck is new, then when it’s 10+ years old and got lotsa miles I think why waste money putting new stuff on an old truck ;)

That one looks cool too! I’m pretty sold on SET (Summit Expedition Trucks) version

I say go for it, if you got the funds. I plan to convert my Taco in that fashion once I have some ranch land. She’ll be the light work truck for the property. Right now I have no reason to, living in the city and not hauling much besides dirt/rock. Those beds look sweet tho. Just can’t justify it when my bed is in semi perfect condition thus farIMG_9778.jpg

Man that’s a beauty of a truck you have. Two things…. 1) How do you like the Toyo MTs so far? I’m thinking about getting a set myself.

    2) The AI generated version of your truck very much reminds me of this guy’s Land Cruiser:

Maybe some of his vids will give you a better idea of what it would look like and how useful it could be. Ironically he did at one point also run the Toyo MTs but I think he’s using something different right now.

Same era Tacoma, same question/idea mulling around in my mind.

So purely from a weight perspective - anyone have any meaningful numbers on the gen2 long bed weight? like what does the part you take off weigh when you go flatbed instead. I have been reading all over its either 80 lbs or 150 or 200 or 400 or whatever. No real consensus. My gut is that the composite body is probably 80 lbs or so, then add the sheet metal - close to 150. Replacing it with an alum flatbed should net about equal if i ditch my steel bumper and perhaps rethink the tow hitch.

wanting to put something else very heavy on top of that - so trying to understand the first step first. the beginning is a wonderful place to start - something like that.
