I'm trying to relocate the data port in my 2025 Tacoma with the 14" Display. I'd like to relocate the USB data port (on the upper right edge/behind the display) to a concealed location as I'm going to have a device permanently connected to it and don't want a cable running down the dash.

Wireless CarPlay/AA is not an option, this device needs to be physically connected to the data port and charging all the time. I want lossless audio and no wireless glitches.

When you pull the cover on top of the dash/behind the display off (easy to do with small interior plastic pry tool), you'll see this cable at the top that runs to the USB data port.

Disconnecting the cable from the backside of the USB port is easy to do (there's a push down on the top).

But I'm having no luck figuring out how to remove the USB port itself from the head unit. I plan to 3d print a simple black blank to replace it with. I've tried putting a small screw driver in the gap internally but can't find any kind of release for it.

    Has anyone tried this before?

Alternatively I'm happy to just buy a new USB port, but can't find anything in the Toyota parts fiche for the data port. They sell the charging ports, but not sure if they're the same pinout. The only way to get another data port is to buy a new display for FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS, so that is right out.

If it were me, I'd just trace the pinouts and either solder up to a USB female pigtail or identify the mating connector and build my own relocate cable.

My soldering skills are painfully awful...I seriously need to spend some time watching some youtubes on it and practicing.

Thanks yeah had seen this guys vid...was really hoping it was the same but it looks like Tundras use a regular USB. I tried using his method to disconnect the plug but it didn't seem to work the same on Taco.

if it’s anything like the 8 inch screen, you can simply push your finger in behind it where the cable runs wiggle it up and down, and the whole port will pop right out and you can pull it loose
