    We're a bit off topic here but I'll bite.

    What you’re pointing out as a “torque dip” isn’t actually a calibration artifact—it’s the direct result of the ACIS system doing its job. The 2GR-FKS intake manifold utilizes an ACIS (Acoustic Control Induction System) flap to switch between runner lengths, and this transition always creates a momentary disturbance as airflow dynamics and resonant frequencies shift on this particular platform/intake manifold (It does not occur on all platforms). That disruption shows up as a dip on any dyno chart of this engine, regardless of calibration.

    There’s no way to “tune it out.” Regardless of where you set the crossover, the dip will appear at that point. If you want the benefit of the longer runner length (which is where you get the midrange torque the 3G Tacoma desperately needs), then the crossover has to live in the RPM range you see in our chart.

    The alternative—what another tuner did—is to move the crossover so low that the engine effectively stays on the short runner setup all the time. Sure, the curve looks smoother on paper, but it sacrifices a huge amount of low- and midrange torque. That’s not a tradeoff we think benefits the platform, and anyone who has spent serious time with this motor will understand why.

    If you’re skeptical, the best thing you can do is test it yourself. Drive it, dyno it, compare the torque delivery across the rev range. The data speaks for itself.

    @NumbNutts- My situation is very similar to yours. I am trying to decide if I should go from Mild/Medium to Lite/Mild because I am so sick of the slow speed issues. Also, it does feel like Mild/Medium is a bit too touchy, especially when going up my steep driveway and slowly making my way into my garage, but also off the line as well. I love how punchy Mild/Medium feels once I get going. That said, I am interested in the 9.2, but not jazzed about it not being carb compliant for emissions (DEQ here in Oregon). I have two years left until I need to get tested to renew my plates. The slow speed issue is really irritating. It almost feels like rev hang with an automatic when I am going slowly in the Walmart parking lot as an example. Then, if I barely touch the gas, it snaps my head back. When going slow like that, I just want it to not be in such high revs.

    If I go for 9.2 now (current tune is compliant) will my smog dude know the difference if I show him the sticker and letter? I don’t know the process for verifying tune version at smog station.

    You won't have issues with Oregon DEQ and 9.2 if you'd like to try it (which I am certain will address your issues).

    As a side note, 9.2 shouldn't have any issues obtaining its EO by the time you need to retest.

C4 fabrication - hybrid front bumper W/ full sized bull bar (10K synthetic winch), rock runner high clearance rear bumper, C4 full skid plates (flat belly) and fuel tank skid, 16in method 703's wheels, 265/75R16 BFag KO3 tires, OTT -overland torque tuned (medium-spicy)
    Q did my tune as well. I'm running 21' 4 cylinder 2.7l, is this one CARB certified in CA currently? I don't remember getting a sticker as others say. Will I have to take the tune off in future years to pass CA smog?

    Our 2.7L Calibration does not currently carry a CARB-EO. We have a 3.5L tune that does.

    At the present time, given the current testing methods, you would not need to reflash your vehicle to pass.

    I have the original CA CARB certified release.

    I would like the upgrade for this when it is available.

    I have an annoying dead spot in the throttle from a full stop. I’ve tried three versions of OTT all with the same result.

    Even if the new build doesn’t fix this, I still want the latest bug fixes and tweaks.
