how to find studs behind Faux Stone fireplace

    looking to get a mantle style wall mount that lets the tv "slide down" in front of the fireplace so that its appropriate eye level. the stones are concrete and fake, but i kno wthere studs back there. want to get a 3/8" lag bolt in there to make that locked in.

    looking for methods or techniques to maybe find screws/nails to tie things together. might get a super strong magnet.

    There is an open cavity as the stone is a bump out. then behind that is a walk-in closet. maybe a little peeking hole wouldnt be awful.

    Yeah just asking. Find the studs from reverse and measure. I would do that, and of course miss. Big time!

    Worth a shot, IMHO.
