20 years ago right now, I was across the pond. I have been reminiscing the good and bad while in country. That said (talking out of my left ear), live life the best you can through the thick and thin of it.

Thanks for the advice! I'll start them at factory PSI and go from there and see how they ride compared to the Trailmax Missions.

My offroad PSI on the F800GS is typically 25, with street pressures about 36f/38r. I have trailmax missions front and rear right now, not the shinkos, so obviously ymmv. When i'm too low on pressure I'll feel my steering getting really slugging and unresponsive, especially medium 15-40mph ish speeds. It'll just start feeling wrong. I'd start high and drop a couple PSI at a time until you start to feel the difference in steering and feel, then go back up a couple PSI.

My Trailmax Missions are cupping pretty badly, especially the front tire. Not super happy with them as I only got 8k miles out of them. I could probably get another 1-2k out of them on asphalt but at this point I’m not going to bother. The Shinkos are so much cheaper.

I have a 5 hour ride before starting the BDR so I’ll definitely start high and drop the pressure as I get to the off-road bits.

I should probably pay closer attention to my tire pressure but it's usually 50 in the mornings and 80 in the afternoons here. It'll probably change a bit during the day anyways.

8,000 is great tire life, in my opinion, especially for a 70/30. I'd be shocked if the 804/805 go beyond 4,000 or 5,000 miles, especially so if they see lots of high speed pavement. But at half the cost you can get half the mileage and still come out OK haha

Oh, absolutely! I go all over the place (sometimes even where I'm not supposed to!) and have occasionally gotten the "creepy" vibes. Not sure about ghosts, but I've seen a few things that defied rational explanation...

My rear Shinko 705 only lasted 3,500 miles on my low powered, low weight DRZ. Wish they could make moto tires that lasted even half as long as a car tire.

Looking at getting a dedicated tire changer 'cause I really effed up my rim changing that last one. Was so pissed (and disgustingly sweaty) that I kind of Hulk'ed out and, while I finally got the tire off, I put some serious scratches on my rim... :annoyed::anonymous:

I guess I was hoping for more than 8k out of the front. People on the Super Tenere USA FB group were saying they've gotten 15k out of the front and rear, but maybe I ride more pavement or ride harder than they do.

If I could squeak out 5k miles out of the Shinkos that would be great. Also with the WR I'm not sure how much I'll be riding the Super Tenere hard in the twisties anyways.

Took the Klx out for a ride today. I need to reinstall the 14t sprocket. Just need more pull. Also ordered the factory grip warmers for the xsr900. They are on BO for 25days so should work out fine for timing. Just a couple more days.

I've been procrastinating a sprocket, I know it will make a huge difference on my 250 but other things have priority. I need to remove my heated grips from my WR as they are spinning freely and I no longer ride it when its cold out anymore.

Some adhesives dont like heated grips because they warm and loosen off. I had one guy suggest hair spray.

Ive used hairspray and spray paint, both go on easily and stick well but if any water gets underneath theyll spin free

I'm thinking renthals for grips, I enjoyed having heated grips but they are also worn. Good to know the hair spray works, but I dont have any haha. Might have some decent spray paint in my tool box.

Have you ever tried bigger bars on your dirt bikes? I've recently seen that dirt guys tend to switch to thicker once the smash the crap out of the stock bars.

Not just any hairspray, use Aqua Net. Safety wire the grips and they will never slip.

All the grips I have ever installed I used rubbing alcohol on the inside of the grip and slip it on wet. Then blow some air to get it into place. Never had any of them slip.
