My FIL sent me a pic the other day and said "what is this and can you fix it". I told him what it was and said Kubota is probably the only place you can get it. Went by yesterday and swapped it out for him.

He said "I have no idea how it got bent".

yes, i was looking at a 30" walk behind like a SCAG or Exmark if i can find one. i have read mixed reviews about the toro timemaster. i used to have a ferris fw25 at my old house. i loved that thing, but my yard is smaller now which will make my life easier. any kind of ride on with be a waste now.

Harbor Freight has one for $55 and they work great, got one to use with mulch  [IMG]

Used pool noodles to keep the mulch from going between bed and cab to keep it off the top of the fuel tank and also to hold it in place while loading.

Wow I've seen the commercials for those, but never knew any real people who had them.

Wasn't even sure ole girl would be able to hold that much or motor home & up the hill... But she did.

rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.
    Chipper troubles... Looking for ideas.

I run a MacKissic 3point mount chipper shredder off the pto on the tractors.
I've had the unit for more than ten years, and have run a lot of material through it.
But lately, small fiberous materal like the fine stuff at the branch ends has been packing in the area where the chips discharge into the shredder section. This gets bad enough to stall the rotor and slip the drive belt BADLY!

Yesterday I pulled the housing cover plate, had a good look, and sharpened the knives. The thing cuts very aggressively when sharp. That is, for about a summer ;-)

When the housing was open, I noted that there was precious little clearance between the chipping chamber and the rotor disc perphery. As it should be. I was thinking to add some sort of "stick and stringer buster" to the outer diameter, but it would need to be small. Just something that stands proud by about 1/4-3/8". The rotor disc has slots cut to give the chips someplace to clear out, and those slots go out to the disc edge, so the disc perimeter is alread interrupted. Cutting notches likely won't help.

I'm thinking just a few healthy dabs of hard facing rod put on with the A/C buzz box welder.

    Anyone seen anything the like?

I should have snapped a couple of pics when it was all open, but I thought just getting the knives sharp would be the cure. Today's work showed me it was not enough.
