Speaker set-up

I have a 2002 X-cab,I fried the stock HU with a jump box,tomorrow UPS will deliver this http://www.crutchfield.com/s_113KDC....html?search=KDC-X995&skipvs=T#researchAnchor I will also replace the stock speakers. Would I have a better sounding system if I replaced the 4 speakers with a set of these in the front doors wired using one channel to the woofers and a second channel to the tweeters on each door?

I'm not even sure if the first way listed is possible and if they will fit.I'm open to suggestions.Thanks for any help!

 

That deck is not set up with crossovers to run 2 channels to the mids and 2 to the tweeters, it would suck.

So option 1 is out.

 

Is this true even if the crossovers between the deck and speakers are made to be wired this way?

 

OK, I see the bi-wire crossovers, now that I look.

I have never ran bi-wire crossovers, though I have a set in the garage.

With the aftermarket deck giving you equal power to all channels, that may actually work for you. It would definitely be a benefit to rock more power to them.

Also, your fade could work to help level match tweeters and woofers, though I do not know if there is any detrimental effects of that.

If the headunit supports it, I see time alignment advantages.

 

More power, as in ~20w to all 4 speakers, or about double the power of running the front channels only to the speakers. Admittedly, the tweeters use a small percentage of the power, but it would still be more power.

No time alignment benefit - there is no delay in f/r for decks, so the left channel(s) and right channel(s) would still be sent at the same time, so your left will still reach your ears faster than the right side.
