I'm putting some plans together to make my own poor mans version of a bestop. Nothing fancy, I'm not planning on ever driving with it up, just something to camp out of.

Basically I'm thinking bent EMT tubing for the supports attatched to the factory rail system and waterproofed canvas for the fabric. I allready have an access tonneau cover, so I can use the velcro rail from that to attatch the sides, the end near the cab is easy enough, still not sure what to do about the tail-gate end. Can't seem to come up with a design that I could open from the interior and would actually be water proof.

Anyone out there ever tried something like this, any pics/advice would be great.

Sounds like a good plan to me. Especially since the bestops cost $$$ but look badass.
