If you end up shipping, go to Lowes, Grainger, etc, and get a small roll of bubble wrap and some shipping tape..., wrap the heck out of them in bubble wrap, then follow with shrink wrap and tape completely.

If you "mummify" them, it should keep them safe. Sans the original box, you just gotta wrap them the best you can. The UPS store or Fedex could help, but would kill you on price....

 

Thanks for the shipping tip.With the steps and all of the mounting hardware I think these things are every bit of 50 or 60 lbs so it probably costs $50 to ship..
