Hi I would like to get an in dash ddin dvd player and let the keds view while I am driving. I just learned that while in drive the video on most ddin head units turns off when the car is in drive. Is there any way to view video while driving?

Yes, you can. Yes, it is illegal in most, if not all, states to have a video in view of the driver while the vehicle is in motion.

Ground the parking brake wire. But check forums and stuff to make sure that will 100% work. I've heard (not sure if its true) some silly things like some units it being wired to the gps or speedo to detect if the vehicle is moving.

Mine works when moving though I don't watch it when driving. It's way too dangerous and distracting.

I only play video (for the passengers) during the day...I have 20% tint so during the day it's pretty hard to tell that a movie is playing unless they really take a good look. During the night though you can see it from a mile away it seems like and I wouldn't take the chance with the cops. To answer your question though all that is required is a relay and some wire...not difficult at all and there are multiple videos on youtube for it :)

it is possible, however it is different with almost all units. Some you can ground, some need relays or switchs to toggle to trick the unit, alpines need a pac tr-7

Assuming your kids are in the back seat, it might be better to get a set of headrests with monitors/dvd player built in. They usually come with wireless headphones so you dont even have to listen to the movie while you're driving. Or you can get technical and get a DD unit that can feed the video on an external monitor and get some monitors installed in your headrests.
