Whats brighter than HID's

Is their anything brighter besides possibly LED?

There's brighter lights out there, just not much that would be at home on a vehicle. First thing that comes to mine are the flood lights on boats or the ones used to light up building exteriors. I believe their sodium lights? I don't know if you can mount them to a truck though and doubt the electrical system would handle them (not to mention they're huge). Just add more lights and aim them properly. Just out of curiousity, what are you looking to do?

The best you can do is boosting HID ballast to put out 50-55W instead of 35. Otherwise, your other choice is using multiple HID lights.

LEDs are the only way to go. HID head lights put out around 3200 Lumens each. So about 6400 lumens for two. Now lets compare to some LED bars.

I have seen the 40" Rigid bar in person and it is CRAZY how bright it is. Can imagine how bright the evo prime 40" is.

Lumens doesn't tell you how bright it will illuminate something, only how much actual light it is outputting. Those lightbars are no good for headlights since they disperse the light over a big area. Great for wide area lighting on the sides of your truck etc.

Some leds are approaching levels near what is needed for a headlight and there have been several prototypes, but its just tough to get a big enough semiconductor die and get all the heat it generates away from the die itself.

To answer your question, there is nothing brighter for your vehicle than HID's. The upper limit of HID's avail for vehicles seem to be ~55W. But HIDs exist in FAR brighter configurations. Pot growers use >1000W HIDs, and stadium lights etc are also very bright.

All you can really do go higher wattage! The problem with this is in vehicles the arc tube gets bigger and bigger so you need a bigger projector/reflector to focus it, and it quickly becomes impractical. You could try run a 500W HID with fat cables from the battery and relays etc, but tough to built a custom light/reflector and make it all work without melting
