    The 50 1.4 is an awesome lens, but do not discount the 1.8, for the money it is a great lens. you can find them for $90ish used if you look around.

    Yeah the 1.8 is a good lens but it don't work on all bodys so make sure it works on your before you buy it.

    yeah i saw the 1.8 as well but the autofocus doesnt work on the d3000 so im probably not gonna get that one unless i find a really good deal

    50mm is nice but it may be too long for you on a cropper.

    I had a 50 and sold it for my nice 30 which is about equal to a 50mm on full frame

    oh yeah true, i also saw the nikkor 35mm 1.8, ive read some good reviews about it, i believe there is also a 35 1.4 but i havent really looked into that one

    If you aren't an OEM whore I suggest looking into the sigma 30/1.4 and/or the 50/1.4. They are amazing lenses with great prices

    I forgot about the 50 1.4G, I was thinking about the older D lens, the new lens is even better ;).

    Then, being reminded of the 35 1.8, which is a DX lens, is a great choice as well. My son has one, I need to try it out some time.

    okay for all of you gimp users, when i open a picture that is in raw format, it opens but is really small, but if i try to scale it up it is all pixelated, any tips on how to open a raw image?
