Ok guys I've installed plenty of HU's in my day, but they are always a year or so apart from each other. The wiring I'm confident in, but the parts not so much.

Here's where I'm at: I'll link parts from Amazon for specs, but I'm buying from various places.

    Kenwood KDC-X995

    Metra Dash Kit (Grey)
    Car Wiring Harness
Metra Axxess Steering Wheel Control -> Will not be using this one
    SWI-JACK Steering Wheel Controls
    Kenwood iPod cable

    SC-C1 Sirius XM Universal Tuner
CA-SR20V cable for SC-C1 to the Kenwood HU (This is not needed on this HU)
KCA-SR50 Sirius Interface Adapter (I do still need this I believe)

As far as the main HU goes, it has BT and HD radio already in there, along with the USB for the iPods and whatnot. That part I understand, but I'm not sure which steering wheel control to use.

Regarding the Sirius, I'm at a loss. The XM or Sirius that comes standard on my truck (2011 Model) already has the antenna on the roof, so I'm assuming I just need to find where it taps in to the head unit and re-route to the billion sirius parts I need to add on?

Help me Tacoma car radio gurus!

The KCA-SR50 should have the cable you need. You will need the SCC-1. I would use a PAC SWC-JACK instead of the Metra Interface. The Metra dash kit is nice. Not 100% sure if you will need the separate ipod cable, though... the 995 might come with it already.

you do not need the ca-sr20v that is for the kenwood touchscreens when adding sirius to it. The x995 does not come with and ipod cable it just has a usb hanging off the back, so yes you would need the usb to ipod cable. I would use the swi-jack over the metra steering wheel control it works much better

Excellent Info so far. A few more questions. Does anyone know how to tap into the antenna from a 09+ Tacoma that came with Sirius from the factory? I assume I just find the din connector and plug that into the SC-C1 and then the KCA-SR50 from that into the back of the head unit.

I'll update my original post to mark the parts I don't need.

You shouldnt need the ipod adapter for the head unit. It has 2 aux inputs, one dedicaded to the mic and another for whatever. Also has a usb cable.

I'm just about to purchase a new head unit and the Kenwood KDC-X995 is my front runner right now. I'd really like to see some photos of the final product if you get time. Thanks.

I actually decided to hold on this one, and likely save a bit more and get the Kenwood KIV-BT901 (not the kiv-bt900).

The difference is color screen, pandora integration (the 995 has this too, but not in color), and the KIV also will support input for a backup camera.

The downsides, the KIV doesn't have a CD or DVD at all, it's completely digital. Which in truth, that's fine with me, as I don't use much else than my phone nowdays or the good ol radio.
