Just received shipment of a new Kenwood Double DIN with separate HD Radio module. Reading through all the documents, I noticed the HD module instructions said "Do not install the unit near the dashboard, the rear deck, or other important components.". It seems most logical to tuck it somewhere behind the HU, but obviously they say that for a reason. I did a search and couldn't find mention about where others have placed theirs. Any suggestions or thoughts are much appreciated. Thanks.

Not quite sure why they say that unless it's just a note to keep it secured somewhere. I have a Pioneer DD HU and the HD module is tucked away in the HU area. I had to push the HD module off to the left side in order to get the wires and the module to fit with the HU, but it does fit. Watch your placement though so it doesn't end up rattling on something.

Another option is to place it down by the glovebox, as there is room to the left of the glovebox. In my setup I have the steering wheel control unit there just in case I need to re-program anything.

I have also seen where others place modules down in the forward portion of the center console. I considered that, but did not want to re-route all the wiring and get an antenna extension to reach that far.

Thanks, Lurkin. I'll check out those spots. I wondered if it had anything to do with heat, of the unit or the placement. I heard these can get hot. But, it didn't clarify. Guess I'll fit it wherever I can. Thanks again.
