    About to do my plugs. In 05-06 service manual there are 1gr-fe entries and 2tr-fe entries. I thought my truck was a 2tr-fe because some of the 1gr-fe entries semed to not apply. But then again I can only find an entry for the ignition coils aka plugs under the 1gr-fe instructions. whats the diff? The 1gr-fe instruction looks like what i need, just want to be sure.

    I responded to your PM, I thought you had the 2.7, But you have the 1gr-fe. Removeal of the coil packs is listed in the FSM. After they are removed, simply remove the plugs and put the new ones in. Make sure they are gapped @ .040. Also, if you dont mind, check the gap of the old ones, and let me know. Im trying to track something.

    Hey chris is the 1gr-fe the model I got? Oh and Bearskill, let me know how your project goes because I also need to swap out my plugs here in about 6,000 miles and I've never changed them out before. Hope its easy though!:eek:

    If I am right, the 1gr-fe and 2tr-fe's are the engine models. Not positive though. Chris would know for sure! I bought the Denso OEM spark plugs because that is what chris4x4 suggested I get. Not sure what model you have though. Wait until chris gets back to you. I don't want to give you the wrong info!;)

    Wow! Those plugs are way down in there! I have to go get an extention. Drivers side looks like it's going to kind of suck, but not to bad. I'll keep you posted.

    The 1gr-fe is the V6, the 2 tr-fe is the 4 banger. Get the plugs for the V6.

    The 2tr-fe (2.7) uses the iridium plugs. The V6 1 gr-fe requires teh nickle plugs. Different ignition systems, and they require plugs with different resistance values.

    Yeah cool keep me posted. The plugs are the only thing I don't know how to do for the 30,000 mile tune-up work. Everything else is pretty straight forward.;)

    Pretty easy really

    1. Take plug wire / boot off
    2. Remove Spark Plug
    3. Verify Gap on new Spark Plug
    4. Install new spark plug
    5. Install plug wire / boot

    Repeat 5 more times. Only do one at a time so you don't lose where each plug wire goes... that's a nightmare... lol

    God damn it! I new I shouldn't have gone to the dealer! TWO seprate guys said the iridiums would work great. I told them I had the 4l v6 like seven times! And naturaly they are closed today so I can't take them back today. F#$&!!!!

    getting there....
    its comes in a little tube, and you just use a minute amount on the spark plug threads, so you wont strip out the heads............and makes the plugs come out easier next time.
