How do you secure it at home to keep it away from the childrens?

I took CCW class in Minnesota so I am pretty familiar with safety and responsibility. I am planning to take CCW class here too. I have to teach my wife how to operate it and control it... When we were at the gun store she was kind of clumsy with no muzzle control and finger on the trigger. Yes it was unloaded, BUT still always gotta treat a firearm like its loaded.

The gun is locked away in my key cabinet along with all the keys for the apartments I manage, unloaded. That cabinet is always locked. Ideally I wan to get a designated gun safe when money permits.

Honestly I don't know when I get to try it out, I am slammed with work... Worked today and might have to work tomorrow...
