switched power near trailer hitch

Where can I find switched power near or at trailer hitch, I have seven pin connection. This is for a lighting project and would rather not tap into tailights.

I should have been more specific. Which color wire on the 7 pin receptacle is 12V power and is it switched. If not any suggestions for switched power?

How about run a wire from the power point under the hood to a switch inside. Run other and to the back of the truck to a connection of whatever kind you need and then it is done how you want it.

 

If it's factory wiring it has 12 volt power at the 7 pin it's used to charge camper batteries.

 

On a 2010, the black wire on the 7 pin trailer socket is switched 12 VDC..

 

Would rather just tap into hitch plug. Is there also unswiched hot power back thre?

I was looking for the same info when wiring in some canopy lights. I finally, after trying to figure out the 7-pin wiring schematics, ran my power from my battery.

 

Does anyone have wiring diagram for the 7 pin plug?

I don't know if the factory trailer connection is switched or not. If not, put a relay on the 12v power lead with a control wire run to the cab. Use a switch, run it to a switched line in the fuse block, or both.

 

There is not an unswitched 12 Volt source at the back of the truck.
