Last winter I put 6 bags of pebble stone in my dbl cab shortbed to weigh the backend down. There is a bladder that I found that holds about 400 lbs and can be used all year round. Just curious what others have done if anything to hold the tail down in the bad weather. Thanks!

i think your idea with the bladder is an awesome idea. a couple of buddies of mine have them in their trucks for when bad weather hits(snow or ice storms) and they love them. way better traction then without it. i think im gonna get myself one also...........................sliding all over the road when it snows or ices up sucks. i did the sand bags in the bed last year, and it was ok, but i think the bladder will be better.

In my old truck I used the really thin dense cinder blocks. I would just put 6-8 of those in the back and tie them together. Not great when it came to them sliding around, but they worked.

I saw the bladder and thought it looks like a great idea too. Always tried to figure out how to make something like that. The only downside is its a little pricey. I also wonder how it would act if filled with anything but sand in extreme cold.

Fortunately we only get bad roads once or twice a year here. The only downside is that I have one of those jobs where you have to go in regardless of the weather.

Are you talking about the *bladder* that holds water? Is it the one that fits the entire bed area of the truck? I've seen those and was sooooo very tempted to buy one cuz it looks pretty neat.

But - I decided to save my money and go with the tube sand (210lbs) that I've had for years (from Home Depot I think). I was concerned that the bladder might get ripped or torn or how it would handle loading stuff on top of it.

Just a redneck idea but would a tractor trailer inter-tube work filled water and anti-freeze? May look a little dumb but probably alot cheaper.

I just had a good redneck amendment to that.
Wish i had kept the inner tube from the ski-tube. I bet it would fit nicely in a box measured to fit the tail in or right over the wheels. Fill it with sand or (water & antifreeze) and it would work well.

Term- Redneck or hillbillitize = to take a good or great idea and have the same results by doing it yourself for a fraction of the price!!!

Thanks for the suggestions and laughs. Yeah, I think the bladder is about $400 if I'm not mistaken. THey say it freezes in winter to add weight and the it has baffles to prevent water shiftage. I know I need to do something because I am getting use to the light back end.

If you want to see rednecks at their finest... You should visit the bar I work at on the weekends. Tacomaman can vouch for that (hes been there).

However, the Coos is not consumed much here. Budlight is #1 in these parts followed by Miller Light as far as domestics go.

We go through 30 + cases of BL for every 1 of Coors.

I think the heat and humidity must have fried your tastebuds. Whenever i drink Buttwiper I have to lick my ass to get the taste out.

I am just telling you whats the top seller in the bar.

However, I can understand why it would be harsh on your taste buds. The only thing I taste when I "Taste the rockies" is water.

Next time you buy a BL just get 2 glasses split the beer and top off the glasses with water. Just like Coors Light!

I can take both sides here. Coors Light tastes like icey cold moose urine water, but Coors is a pretty good beer. I had never given it a chance, mostly due to the (lack of) taste of C.L., but I had regular Coors for the 1st time recently and it was good.

Oh you silly American's and your shitty beer, hahahaha. I lived down in Colorado for two years, to go to college, and all I drank was Natural Lite. I think it was like $6 for 12 beer. I don't know how I ever managed to get that stuff down the hatch, but it was a cheap way of getting drunk.
