So I have that mirror and head unit... I just fail to see why this mod is cool, useful, or good. Perhaps Im lost. The factory mirror screen is too small for movies or nav use. I can only watch a movie on the main screen on REALLY long trips for safety reasons and odnt need to use nav then. I use both back up cams at the same time for differing perspectives. I use my phone if I want a second nav screen for whatever reason. Its larger, clearer and can be handed to my passenger. Am I missingn something? I dont see a screen that small as usefull with a 9960.

You probably shouldn't do it then... just a thought.

I, on the other hand, did it because I don't see the point in having two different monitors hooked up to my reverse camera. By the way, if the video is coming from the same camera, it is NOT a different perspective LOL.

Anyway, I don't care for a redundant video of my reverse camera in my mirror, so I hooked the mirror up to the video output from my head unit. Now I can select whatever video source I want in my mirror, it only took a couple hours, and it was FREE (aside from the cost of the $4 relay). Oh, and the chicks love it… they always touch and kiss it when it comes on!

Great mod OP, I'm afraid of wiring. I was excited when I plugged in my shark fin wire for my Sirius! Great write up though and think its a cool idea! I love shit like that to play with! +1

I have a Kenwood CMOS-300 so I have dual reverse cameras with different perspectives, plus the CMOS has multiple different perspectives itself you can cycle through. Its still not as elevated as the stock camera as its meant to be mounted over the license plate.
