awesome. then i know exactly where to go. i think. lol
suggestions on a beefier shock in the rear for my tacoma? lookin for something that will support the weight if i load the truck up with camping gear and different things. AND, anyone heard of swapping out the stock gas tank and putting a bigger one under there? i just came back from Cali and i got 11mpg. :( thats pretty shitty. i know i will still get the same, i was just worried more about running out

I've been looking into the Icon rears with reservoirs. Not bad price wise and they work great. Matt has them on his and so does his buddy. They have 2.0's and 2.5's. I was looking at the kit from toytec. Comes with front coil overs, and rears with resi's. You can get just the rears tho.

What shocks to you have back there already? You're better off upgrading the leaf pack if you want to carry loads. The shocks will only dampen the bumps. I only have a 2" AAL and 5100s in mine and I can load it up with 300lbs of gear and water and it still sits level and rides fine.

oh BTW Adam, I found out what my suspension set up was finally. It's a 3" procomp kit. Coil overs and rears. Real basic and thats why it rides so stiff. Looking at an Icon kit with new UCAs to upgrade it.

i think you are right, adding a leaf will be the better way to go. thanks Adam, and Josh thanks for the recommendation on shocks. just need a leaf and then a better spider net to hold all of the gear in. and some kind of box to hold the gas can, damn thing was sliding all over the place on our last run.

I was actually looking for some of those same things Mark. Lol. I found a cool box/gear bag at Cabellas. It's a soft collapsable box with a metal frame to keep it rigid. Its waterproof and can easily be taken in and out. They also have a hard composite version also. I've been looking for one that isn't fixed on the bed kuje a normal tool box. The bed is small enough as it is. Not sre about you guys, but this trip is giving me an excuse to look and buy new gear. lol

I know. Thats my problem too. Lol. I'm sure just a net or tarp would work too to cover everything. I was tthinking of just doing that for now.

leaning more towards a net. small cooler, tent, small air matress, stove/grill, gas can, and a catch-all tote of misc, and were set.

I have been drooling over these for some time now as a way to carry extra gas and water (red ones shown are for gas but they have white ones BPA-free for water storage).

And for mounting, use these to go right on your existing rails if you don't want to drill for the other mounts. They also make a locking handle so you don't have to worry about thieves:

Mount them to whatever you think will hold them. I would personally mount them to the inside of my bed or via the rail system, but it gives you options.
