Hey yall im Dustin from south georgia. I been drivin a 95 chevy 1500 for about 7 years now and am lookin at gettin a tacoma. I have found an 04 TRD thats got the supercharger package. Great lookin truck and its exactly what I want but im not sure about this "supercharger". I know everything has its problems but what should I look for on this turbo motor? What kinda power do they make and are they reliable enough to keep on the motor. to drive bck and fourth to work every day? Im just kinda skeptical about the whole turbo thing. I dont have any experiance with a turbo so any advise would be great, Maybe what should I ask this guy about the motor or what kinda oils or injector changes ect ect.... Thank for any advise!!

Has the oil ever been changed in the supercharger? Receipts for work done? Look for oil leaks and is the engine oil clean? Listen for exhaust leaks (especially at passenger side exhaust manifold) Again, I want receipts for work done. How many miles and how much $$ does he want for the truck?

67,000 means it needs at least ALL the fluids changed, spark plugs, fuel filter, shocks, tires and on and on. That's why I want receipts. The more receipts he has the more you don't need to do right away. If he has none you can figure you're going to spend at least 1K. Is he the original owner (that is a BIG PLUS) if not, be very careful (and don't believe a word he says) You should take the truck to a mechanic you trust. Look for different color paint and overspray in door jambs and underneath the truck.

I'm just saying you could buy a new truck for not much more than that and have full warranty for (what is it..3 years or 60K)

If it's such a great truck why is HE selling it?

He said he is sellin it cause he has got three trucks and his wife is makin him sell one of them. He said he likes his tundra better cause its got more room for his family. Im prety good with the mechanics of the truck. Hell I have never took my chevy to anybody, I do all the work on it. I dont trust folks to turn a wrench on my truck. Im just not sure about this whole turbo deal. He said the turbo runs off the oil in the engine and he had it put on when he bought the truck new. He has recipts for everything he has ever done to it. The guy seems legit im just not familular at all with a turbo. Ive done a lil research on it but cant really find exactly what im lookin for. He said somethin about a 7th injector, and said its got a K&N witch I firmly belive in. He also said he has only run premium in it since he got it. Regardless Im gonna check it out tomorow and see what the deal is. I really wasnt plannin on gettin one with a turbo but the more I think about it the better I like it.

I havnt really been able to find anyhting bad about the turbos on these things except for gas milage gettin worse witch dont bother me cause im gettin 13-14 in the chevy. Just let me know if you think of anything else I need to check out about this turbo or a web site that will tell me more. Thanks alot Steve

Sounds like you may have found a creampuff. It's nice to find an owner that has the cash to maintain it and has proof!

You're going to LOVE that truck.

    Post pics!

Oh Man that's GREAT! Don't beat the crap out of this truck and if it's not running synthetic oil in the engine do it ASAP and only use synthetic from then on.

Doesn't that supercharger just blow your mind?!

I'm so glad you found a truck that has been looked after. If you take reasonable care of it you could be a retired old man and still driving it.

Again, I couldn't be happier for you. It looks like you have a REAL beauty there.
