How do you like your 4 door crew cab 4 banger?

I have not found a specific thread for this topic. I wanna hear from people that own the 4 cylinder 4 door crew cab Tacomas. Does the truck serve your needs? Do you regret or wish you had the v6?

I personally have a long city commute (80+ miles a day of inner city highway driving) I do not off-road or haul anything heavy. I'm wondering if a crew cab is going to meet my needs for having a fuel efficient truck.

 

I had a 2007 v6 dcab and traded it in on a 2011 4cyl dcab(for the gas mileage) and must say I do miss the extra cylinders alot,not sure the couple extra miles is worth the umph I miss so dearly

 

I went from a Dodge Ram Hemi to my 4door Taco 4cyl and my ability to pass in a road raging manner using a bunch of horsepower has all but disappeared ! It's like being neutered... From a more practical perspective, my gas bill has gone down tremendously and I've managed to get everywhere I've tried to drive, so I'll land on the side of overall satisfied with the 4-banger...

 

I'm also considering a 4 banger. It seems like a hard pill to swallow. But if the gas mileage is that much better, I may have to get one.
It's going to be a utility truck, but nothing too heavy.

 

My 02 serves my needs. It will pull my 2KLb load trailer. It will exceed the any posted highway speed limit within my region. I've actually have V6s in other vehicles that performed worse.

 

Maybe I can wait to see the 2012 model. Hopefully it's stronger and has a 5 speed auto.

 

I cant imagine that a 4cyl double cab would be THAT much more efficient than a V6 given the power to weight ratio

 

I own a 2011 DC 2.7L its not a speed demon but is decent fast taking off (For a 4 cyl but dont get me wrong its nowhere near a V6) after 70 it does get saggy to pass another vehicle. I don't haul anything or off road and I am 100% happy with it, at first it was tough coming from a 2010 V6 highlander, i felt lost and disappointed with the lack of power compared to the highlander but im getting 20.5 MPG on mine, so cant go wrong with that, it just takes me couple more minutes and ill be at the same place that i wouldve been on the V6 with more money in mi pockets and less speeding tickets =).

at the end of the day It all comes down to your needs.... if your hauling or using it for heavy stuff.. get the V6, if like me you only needed extra room get the I4.

V6 goes around 17 MPG on a 21 Tank that`s = 357 Miles
I4 goes around 20.5 on a 21 Tank that`s = 430.5

So on every thank you will get 73.5 More Miles

 

I love mine. Plenty of power to run 75mph down the road and I get 23 mpg.
I drive 100 miles a day and the gas mileage makes a difference. Didn't buy it to race.

If this motor lasts near as long as my 22r 4x4 toyota with 33s and 250,000 miles how can anyone complain?

 

there is a difference... if i wanted to i could drive slower and improve that by much,, you on the other hand are already driving like that and maxed out by much

 

I bet if you drove his I4 the same as you did getting 20mpg you'd get way more than 20.5, My access cab isn't much smaller.
