I don't have any convenience package...I don't have cruise control, or RKE. My fenders/bumpers/grill/instrument panel are all black. My sunvisors do not have mirrors/extenders. My wipers are not variable speed, just fast slow and off and I don't have leather steering wheel/shifter.
I have a Base model, non SR5 non TRD, they actually exist :D. Power windows/locks/mirrors come standard on all 4 door models and that is all I have.

If I'm not mistaken there are different packages for different regions of the country. So the sr-5 in the south may have a different option package than one in the west.

OK, but that's not the point of this discussion anyway. What you quoted in your original post still doesn't apply to pre-2009 Tacoma's. An actual base model, as was explained earlier, is a 5 lugger, not what you have. You have a 4X4 which is a different category altogether.

Whatever, at this point we're just arguing over semantics. The question of what makes an SR5 has been answered and that's that.

And on top of that, as I have said and some others have said, there are actually a couple of different SR5 packages(SR5 and SR5 Xtra Value package) and SR5 means different things to different models and trim levels.....and years I guess....

    Hmmmm....

As a new member trying to figure out all the packages and differences etc. this post has both clarified and confused things for me. So instead of asking who has what options and what their packages are titled, I'll just ask if anyone knows anywhere that lists what is included in the the different packages, preferably by year.
I know toyota lists the packages for the new 09's, but I'm looking at used 2005-2007 V6 4X4 double cabs. Maybe '08 if the price is right. Possibly just the base (as I understand the 4X4/v6 bases come with the color-keyed panels/bumper and other stuff, again, where the confusion sets in...) or the sport or off-road, again depending on what the packages include. Apparently if it's a sport or off-road, it's automatically TRD?
Sorry, I'm new to all this, but know am stoked to get a sweet tacoma I can fall in love with.

    NO!

you can't buy my truck with an sr5 package...period...it only comes in two trims:

    FLEET MODEL: No A/C....
    BASE: A/C standard....
both with black bumpers, grille surround, bench seat.

the only way to get an sr5 package is on 6-lug reg cab, a 5 or 6-lug access cab, or a dub cab.

even if you have a 4x4 whatever...as long as its not the rugged trail package...you have a BASE model if it has black bumpers and overfenders and grille surround. NON-SR5.... std cab, dub cab whatever....

    non sr5

I don't think the 4x4 automatically qualifies it. My father-in-law has a 2008 access cab 4x4 V6 with manual transmission - it DOES NOT have the SR5 package. The only option it has is the "convenience package" which is like keyless entry, sliding rear window, privacy glass in the rear, and maybe a couple other small things. It does not have color coded bumpers or fender flairs, no variable speed wiper, no driver lumbar support, etc.

That is actually an 08. I am not sure of the production date, but it was purchased in September of 2008.
