    I purchased my Scangauge II along with the blendmount. I found this thread after I realized the mount would not fit my mirror due to the bulge of the hands-free microphone. I keep my mirror as high as I can so it just doesn't leave room for the scangauge.

    You folks with the idea of using clips -pure genius! I'm tall so clipping my scangauge straight to the headliner wasn't the best angle so I came up with a hybrid approach.

    Since I already own the thing I bent the blendmount into a "z" and attached a single tape measure clip using a small screw and nut. I attached the single clip at an angle so the gauge faces me. I wrapped a bit of "rescue tape" around the part of the mount that comes in contact with the headliner. This covers the screw head to protect the headliner but the added friction keeps it solid. I ran the cord up the pillar and headliner and bent it away from the windshield so it doesn't come in contact.

    It has been hanging this way for about a year but the other day I decided to snap a few pics for this thread. I tried to take the first picture at about eye level but since it is in front of my face the angle might look a bit screwy. The angle really is perfect for my eyeballs and it is easy to see right by the mirror. It overlaps slightly but doesn't block my view behind the truck. The second shot shows the gauge/mount are not coming into contact with my mirror.

    The pictures suck since they are downsized cell phone shots but you get the idea.

    Just got my Scangauge II in the mail today. While looking for a place to mount it I noticed the headliner fabric, itself, plays well with Velcro hook fastener. I stuck a 4" length of Sticky Back Velcro hook material to the top of the ScanGauge II, and tried it, it grabs like crazy and doesn't unravel the fabric upon removal...kewell.

    I removed the handle on the "A" piller and the cover revealing all kinds of room underneath and below. Ran a fish wire down to pick up the small connector (had to remove the coin pocket to aid fishing). Then ran the fish wire horizontally above the headliner to the ScanGauge II positioned between the mirror and overhead console. The cable has about 6" to 8" left over which I tucked up above the headliner.

    This works well and is easily relocated to any viewing angle desired. Also easy to remove and move to another vehicle if another cable is available.
    PS - That's a Valentine V-1 radar detector lurking over on the upper-left corner of the windshield behind the sun tint band.

    I tried that and it would only stick for a day or two. I ended up putting one clip in the center and two velcro hook sections on either side to hold the angle, and that worked for me. Also I just used one clip that i had and I didn't want to go find another one.

    OK, I can see how that might happen. After your post I checked with other Velcro I had...there seems to be two different kinds of Velcro out there. One has real fine teeth and one with coarser teeth (hooks).
    I used the fine teeth, lucked out. Mine might fall off too, but so far it's still hanging in there.

    P.S. Been almost 5 months now and the fine-meshed Velcro is still hanging in there, hasn't fallen yet.

    I just stuck the velcro to the top of the scangage, roughed up the headliner a little and stuck it directly to the ceiling. It has been there 2 years without a wiggle.
    Sooner or later I might have to relocate, but for the time being I saved 2 dollars...

    A little off-topic, but before i buy one I want to confirm that the SCII will be able to read Trans Temp on my 05 taco.

    Ive read conflicting threads, but on the SC website under X-Gauge commands there is a command for 05+ trans temp? :confused: please help

    Excellent mod! I did the same thing as OP, except with epoxy instead of velcro. It seems snug and tight.
