I have an 08 TRD 4x4 Sport with a factory skid plate. I wanna get a bull bar that doesn't come with a built-in skid plate because my factory plate is so much better. All I really want is a generic black bar that I can mount without taking of my plate. Any suggestions?

Most bull bars install without removing the factory skid plate. I have a Smitybilt bull bar in black on my 08 and still have my skid plate. The bull bar does come with a small plate but it doesn't interfere with the stock plate.

Many of the higher priced bull bars have removable skid plates. Most of the "cheaper" ones don't have skid plates at all. You just have to shop around and find one that you like.

    Don,
I've got an 08' Prerunner TRD Sport and am also concerned about interference w/factory skidplate. I'm looking at the Smittybuilt like what's on your beatiful white Tacoma. Anything special I need to know about the install? Thanks......Steve in NM

Checked out the install instructions on-line and it looks pretty easy. I went ahead and ordered one from Amazon. Should be in buisness by this weekend.
