Tire/Rim Question

I have an 06 Tacoma TRD Off-Road with stock 16 inch rims and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if 285/70/16 will fit on them. I believe the tires are about 11 inches wide and I think the stock rims are about 8 inches wide. Does anyone think that would work or are the tires to wide for the rim? Oh by the way my Tacoma has a 3" lift kit on it and do you guys think Im going to need to do any trimmimg on the inner fenders? Any advise would be appreciated!

 

They'll fit on the rim itself, but you'll need wheel spacers to clear the UCA from what I've read on here in the past. And you may or may not need to trim some of the plastic on the inner fenders, just depends on your lift and suspension angles...

 

Might be stating the obvious, but you know that 285/75/16 is a 33" right? I just noticed you said 70. Not sure what overall diameter you were aiming for.

like said before, the tire will fit on the rim but your gonna rub the upper control arm. The stock wheels have too much backspacing for that wide of a tire. either get new wheels or wheel spacers.

 

The tires I'm looking at are 285/70/16, I think they're equivalent to a 32" tire if I'm not mistaken. I wanted to go with new 17" rims and 285 tires but I came across these 285's Toyo Open Country mud terrains for $650 and there brand new. I'm thinking about just buying these and keeping the stock rims for now. Thanks for the advise, so it looks like I'm going to need wheel spacers and possibly minor fender trimming.

What do you guys think should I just jump on these tires and settle for now or should I spend the extra money and get new rims as well. They seem like a good deal, what do you guys think? I'm looking at spending about $700 for these tires in total or about $2,100 for the rims and tires I want!

 

save up for what you really want, otherwise you will be saving up again very soon spending more money in the long run.
