Even pulled the back seat and storage compartments. Nothing there.

Pudge, I have put the entire truck back together. Smell is about 80% gone and I have a gel deodorizer and carpet foam that I will be using every couple weeks. It is still there but is covered up by the smell of a french whore for now.

Everyone says the smell will go away eventually. Side note- my wife was going ape $h!t because the smell was in the garage. Turns out the fridge boxes of baking soda I had in there for a week had obsorbed and were now giving off the smell since I moved them to the garage.

Yea. Me too. I figure if I swing by Sam's or Costco, I can pick up about 24 of those fridge packs and just cycle them out every 3 days. Maybe that would do the trick.

This whole situation pisses me off because I did get the truck for INSANELY cheap (for around here) and it is just a smell. If it would just go away, I would would be set. This is the best vehicle I have ever owned, and I have owned a few screamers (Integra Type-R, Supra TT, 350z). I LOVE THE TRUCK!!:D I could not have towed 2 Mustangs 140 miles (seperate trips) with the other cars... or even hop a curb :p

How long did you leave the charcoal in there? I was over at a guy's house the other day and they have a big old basket of it sitting in their kitchen to absorb odor. I guess it works cause I didn't smell nothing and apparently they cook a lot of fish.

But I like the idea of buying a pallet of baking soda and trying that.

I know this sounds retarded... but I speak because of personal experience.

Have you checked the outside of the truck? Like gone under it and checked everything meticulously? I had a very bad odor coming into the cab of a Jeep Liberty I have. It was a poisonous odor, so I needed to get it gone ASAP. It was 2 things. Stuff under the cab and the connection of the coolant lines that go to the heater.

Although you probably do not have the problem of the coolant lines I had, do check the underside of the cab. Who knows, you might find something.

    If not... then... :bananadead:

Oh hell why didn't I think of this before!
Thanks I Liquid I... when I bought my truck there was a birds nest inside the boxed part of the frame up by the passenger side door.
OP, maybe something crawled in there and died!
    Just a thought...

I am amongst smart people. I said the same exact thing. After I had the truck together, I pulled it up on to ramps and took a crawl. I didn't see anything but I thought I smelled it. My windows were down and my mind might have been playing tricks on me.

When I had the carpet out, my father pulled a grommet out of the floor and the smell filled the cabin area rather quickly. Looking down the hole, it appeared to be just dried up dirt and the smell had vanished.

This weekend I am going to lift it again and take a weak powered pressure washer to it and mke sure everything is clean under there. I also investigated with a probe into all of the hidden crevices around the bumpers and finders and those were spotless.

Thanks for the pointers. Keep them coming if you can. You all ROCK!!!

Charcoal was left in the truck by itself for 3 days and then other things were tried as well. Total I would say about 9 days.

You might try putting an Ozone generator in the vehicle for about 24 hours,
while no one is in the vehicle. If you lived closer, I would lend you mine.

I had a possum or raccoon crawl between the floor boards of my house once and die. Smelled horrible. What finally got rid of the smell was a bag of lava rocks placed as close to the source of the odor as I could get it. Every other day took them out and set them in the sun. This worked better than all the febreze, vinegar, lysol and everything else we tried put together. YMMV. Hope you are able to resolve this!

I dont think I could ever sell this truck. I love this damn thing. I was able to track down the smell source. It was the front driver fender flare. When you open the drivers door, you can see a rubber flap. Well since I had looked at every damn thing else and I remember smelling something enar the front tire I figure I would check it out.

It was full of corroded, moldy leaves and fur of some sort. There was no bones but tufts of fur. Now I have no idea how this stuff got in there since it appears to be a closed off area. I held the rubber flap back and used sticks and screw drivers to pull 80% of the stuff out. I still need to remove the inner fender well to complete the job but the smell is very weak if at all there now.

Of course yesterday with the 100+ degree weather, I did smell it. Maybe tomorrow I will pull that thing off.

BTW, I hate to thread jack myself but is it normal to be VERY envious of Tundra owners? I have had my truck a couple months now and just recently noticed (actually my wife did) that I will twist around backwards to watch a 2007+ Tundra drive by.
